…an organization of young men and women (ages 18-40) from all over Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The Coconut Grove Jaycees were established in 1976 and are proud to be a part of Junior Chamber International (JCI), a global organization that empowers young people to promote positive change in their communities and create impact on pertinent social issues.

JCI Coconut Grove is known around the world as the “Champagne Chapter” and was recognized as “The Best Chapter in the Country” in 1986, 1989, 2001 and 2002 and “The Best Chapter in the World” in 1988 and named the “Most Outstanding Chapter in all of the Americas” in 2002.

Today

JCI Coconut Grove is always looking for new young leaders to harness the power and breadth of Junior Chamber International.

We are consistently regarded as one of the strongest chapters in the country because of our commitment to community service, business networking, personal development and international service.

Projects are run by members who  serve as “Project Managers” for all of our events and community outreach endeavors.

Directors serve as liaisons to the members and empower them with the resources and knowledge to be able to run successful events.

JCI Coconut Grove offers the perfect opportunity for young professionals to test their career and life skills – whether it is project management, public speaking or philanthropy.

We care about the individual development of our members and we work hard to make sure that everyone has a positive learning experience – and we aim to have fun doing it at the same time.

In additional to professional development, we host happy hours and networking events as well as personal development activities such as kickball and our very own, JCI Cooking School.

Past Members, Today’s Leaders

Junior Chamber International’s more famous past members have included U.S. Presidents (Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Clinton), UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Bob Hawke (former Prime Minister of Australia), Jacques Chirac (former President of France), Ted Turner (founder of CNN), Larry Bird (Boston Celtics), Poul Schluter (former Prime Minister of Denmark) and Chen Shui-bian (10th president of Taiwan).

In addition, the Coconut Grove Chapter has produced such leaders as Tom Gallagher (Florida’s Insurance Commissioner) and former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas.

There are more than 5,000 chapters in over 100 countries around the world.  We encourage members to take part in our area conferences, seminars, workshops and World Congress.  In 2012, you will find thousands of Jaycees heading to Taipei, Taiwan to attend the annual congress.

Come out to a meeting or one of our events and see if JCI Coconut Grove is right for you.  Will you be a Jaycee?
